Born and raised in Lafayette, Dr. Lauren is returning home to begin her career as veterinarian. She attended St. Thomas More High School, and then Louisiana Tech University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in Chemistry. She then went on to veterinary training at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. During her summers in undergrad and veterinary school, Dr. Lauren was a nurse at our sister practice, Lafayette Veterinary Care Center. Her time working there, both strengthened and confirmed her passion of healing animals and being a bridge to connect owners and their beloved pets. 

While in veterinary school, she met her fiancé and soon to be husband, Dr. Rhett Sonnier, who is also a veterinarian. Dr. Sonnier is from Erath and practices in equine medicine, predominantly on racehorses. They have recently purchased a home in Carencro and have their one dog, Heart (terrier lab mix) and their two fish tanks, one with an angelfish named Lucy. 

In her free time, Dr. Lauren enjoys spending time with her friends and family, running, fishing, anything outdoors, and eating yummy Cajun food. Dr. Lauren has been a lifelong lover of anything furry and four legged, which is what lead her to pursuing her career as a veterinarian. She is both excited and humbled to be able to help you care for your pets!
